Sarah Yasseen is pursuing her doctoral studies at Ohio State University's Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. She is conducting a research on the use of the Wireless Sensor Networks | Ambient Intelligence & Smart Environment field, combined with nanotechnology and green energy, as a way to monitor air and water pollution. Such a project might be extremely beneficial for all living creatures in developing as well as developed countries.

A native of Iraq, Sarah received both Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Computer Engineering from the College of Engineering, University of Basrah where she was selected as valedictorian of her entire college. Her master thesis studied the effect of node failures and its mitigation on the quality of service in WSNs. After graduation, she has been employed by the University of Basrah as a full-time faculty member in the Computer Engineering department where she taught various undergraduate courses: engineering analysis, digital signal processing, advanced computer architecture, operating systems, and software engineering. She has worked in the IT & networking field a private sector networking company.

Finally, Sarah enjoys animation and fashion design. Her wisdom in life "Whoever follows a path in the pursuit of knowledge, God paves her/his way to Heaven; and it is incumbent upon every human-being to seek knowledge from the cradle to the grave."
